Honoring Culturally-Responsive, Trauma-Informed, and Identity-Affirming Care

Personalized therapy from the comfort of your own home— A space where you can settle in and move through your process with greater ease and intention.

My Philosophy

I understand mental health and well-being as deeply intertwined with the cultural and sociopolitical environments we move through—Contexts that can often leave us feeling isolated, disempowered, or unseen. Within this reality, I view the therapeutic space as a harbor: A place where you can reconnect with your inner self, build a sense of agency, and move toward growth and meaningful change. I draw from an integrative framework, recognizing the complexity of your lived experience and identity, to support insight, emotional processing, and the development of practical tools for navigating life’s challenges. Above all, I strive to cultivate a space defined by safety, authentic connection, collaboration, and affirmation, where you can explore yourself more fully and move in ways that feel aligned and sustainable.

I am Dr. Lex Uehline—You are welcome to call me Dr. Lex or simply Lex. I’m a Licensed Psychologist committed to providing culturally responsive, evidence-based psychotherapy for adults navigating complex trauma, identity-related distress, relational challenges, workplace burnout, and family concerns.

As a Black Biracial woman who has spent much of my life moving through predominantly White spaces, I bring both personal and professional insight into the experience of being underrepresented, navigating identity-based stress, and feeling unable to show up as your full, authentic self. I strive to create a therapeutic space that feels safe, affirming, and grounded—One where we can gently name and push back on limiting narratives and move toward a more expansive, self-defined sense of well-being.

Guided by principles of trauma-informed and multiculturally-aware care, I draw from an integrative approach that primarily includes Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Experiencing (SE). I adapt my approach to each client, considering the breadth of individual experiences. In our work together, I aim to bring warmth, curiosity, and compassion as we explore your lived experience, build resilience, deepen self-understanding, and develop tools to navigate life’s challenges.

I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology, with a programmatic emphasis in Diversity, from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. Throughout my training and professional work, I have maintained a strong commitment to culturally-informed practice. My experience includes developing psychoeducational and prevention programs focused on diversity, social justice, and the life-long practice of allyship, as well as conducting and presenting research on the intersections of race, culture, and mental health, with a particular focus on the nuances of Biracial identity.

“Lex brings an authentic and grounded approach to clinical work that is filled with warmth, care, and humanness. She has a way of holding space that allows for deep connection, soulful visibility, and gentle naming of the unsaid that embraces vulnerability.”
